{"id":1990,"date":"2020-06-28T19:03:21","date_gmt":"2020-06-28T19:03:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mulroyandcompany.ie\/?page_id=1990"},"modified":"2020-08-08T12:39:44","modified_gmt":"2020-08-08T12:39:44","slug":"distribution-of-your-estate-when-you-die-intestate-or-have-not-made-a-will","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mulroyandcompany.ie\/main\/distribution-of-your-estate-when-you-die-intestate-or-have-not-made-a-will\/","title":{"rendered":"Distribution of your estate when you die intestate or have not made a will"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The legal rules governing the distribution of your property apply:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When you have not made a will<\/li>\n<li>When the will has been denied probate because it has not been made properly or a challenge to it has been successful<\/li>\n<li>When the will does not completely deal with all your possessions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In these cases, after debts and expenses have been deducted, the estate is distributed in the following way.<\/p>\n<p>If you are survived by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A spouse\/civil partner but no children (or grandchildren): your spouse\/civil partner gets the entire estate.<\/li>\n<li>A spouse\/civil partner and children: your spouse\/civil partner gets two-thirds of your estate and the remaining one-third is divided equally among your children.
