If you are involved in a road traffic accident, it is important that you follow the below guidelines;<\/p>\n

(i)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Avoid moving the vehicles from the scene of the road traffic accident if possible.<\/p>\n

(ii)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Telephone the Garda\u00ed to attend at the scene of the accident.<\/p>\n

(iii)\u00a0\u00a0 Take a photograph of the accident scene including\u00a0the damage to your vehicle and the other vehicle involved and the positions of the vehicles relative to one another and their position on the road relative to any landmarks. It is also important that if there are skid marks on the road or broken glass or other debris from the accident that you take photographs of these also, including if possible, their location on the roadway.<\/p>\n

(iv) \u00a0 \u00a0You may be shocked and upset following the accident and you may be the subject of intimidation from the other party. However it is important that you do not admit liability at the location of the accident.<\/p>\n

(v)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Obtain the following information:<\/p>\n

a)\u00a0Name and address of the other driver.
\nb)\u00a0Details of the vehicle including make, model, registration number etc.
\nc)\u00a0Details of the Insurance Company and policy number of the other driver\/drivers;
\nd)\u00a0Name of the Garda who attended the scene of the accident;
\ne)\u00a0Details of any witnesses who witnessed the accident;<\/p>\n
